Browser Access to NZZ Global
NZZ, my daily newspaper, now includes full online access with the regular subscription, a service they call NZZ Global. The beautiful thing about it: they don't need DRM for this - so no ActiveX control that only allows you to read it etc., but you get the articles, you can officially print them, send them by email, or download some articles or even the whole paper as PDF. And: not only do they not use DRM, but on their regular flyer they sent to all subscribers to announce this, it says this:
So, not only do they explicitly mention Linux and even Unix, but also niche products like Opera or Apple's Safari. And on the first glance, it works with KDE's Konqueror as well. Oh, and: while their feedback form is indeed a web form, there is an email address at the top of the form for those who, like me, don't like web forms.

ATI is now AMD
I just read that AMD bought ATI. Is AMD better in terms of Linux support than ATI? Anybody who has contacts inside AMD or ATI might now be able to influence management to change the policy wrt open source graphics drivers now that the company has changed hands. Coincidence: Just yesterday, I watched the presentation of Keith Packard from Debconf6 (Ogg Theora, 80M File), the x.org guy who currently works at Intel, the only major manufacturer of graphics chipsets to fully support the open source/free software community.
